Kousa Dogwood
The Shrine of Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary at St. Ignatius Church is just across the road from the church. At the beginning of the Stations of the Cross, which are in front of the entrance, is a Kousa dogwood. When it is in bloom, it graciously and generously offers its flowers to all who pass by. I have visited the shrine many times and I treasure its gift. This painting, is a token to the great gift this tree, and the Jesuit community that planted it, has given me. I will be forever indebted to the Jesuit tradition as it has been lived here on the shores of the Port Tobacco River and to the people who continue that life today.
